I am excited to share my passion for diving and my dedication to excel in this sport. As a junior in high school, I have already gained three years of competitive diving experience and have shown tremendous progress.
Before transitioning to diving, I trained in gymnastics for six years and reached level 7. Although I loved gymnastics, I was drawn to diving because of the unique combination of athleticism, grace, and courage required to execute each dive perfectly. I also knew I could use my previous experience in gymnastics to help me flip and twist in my dives.
In my three years of diving, I have already accomplished some notable achievements. This past fall, I placed 3rd in the South-West Conference and 6th in the class M state championship. These accomplishments have motivated me to train harder and strive for even greater success.
This summer, I will be working towards achieving the Vanguard, which is the highest award possible to achieve at my summer camp, and is not easy to obtain. For the vanguard I have to perfect 52 various dives from both the platform and the board. It will be a challenge to not only perfect them, but also to perfect them on a rocky dock. I also will demonstrate leadership by teaching beginner campers how to dive and help the intermediate campers improve.
I am confident that I have the necessary physical and mental attributes to excel in college diving. I am a dedicated and hardworking athlete, always pushing myself to improve my technique and perfect my dives. I am a team player as well, always supporting my teammates and cheering them on, while also learning from their experiences and techniques. I am a straight A student who works hard to maintain my good grades and I also focus on improving my diving.
As I begin to explore my college options, I am looking for a school with a strong diving program that will challenge me both academically and athletically. I am excited to continue my journey as a diver and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.
