I started diving three years ago on a summer team before eighth grade. At the time I was just looking to do something new, but diving has expanded my horizons and become my passion. I dove there for two summers before I started diving competitively in September of my freshman year. I have been diving year-round ever since. I dive 3 hours a week during the school year, as Georgia Tech is a long drive, but during the summer season my practice expands to about 8 hours per week. It has been a long journey to where I am now, as I started out late with no prior gymnastics or diving experience. I am a member of the varsity dive team at my school and qualified for state individually during this past season.
I have faced many challenges in my diving career, as I faced off against opponents with far more experience than I had. I used these experiences to motivate myself and improve my skills. These challenges taught me the value of grit and determination in the face of challenges and have allowed me to grow as a person.
I have also maintained a rigorous academic schedule while pursuing diving as I take four AP/Honors classes and will be taking 5 AP classes next year.
I really hope to find a college that I can pursue an education and my diving passion. I am so excited to see what the future holds for me and will be so grateful for any opportunity to achieve my athletic and academic goals.
