Personal Statement
My collegiate goals and aspirations is to participate in college in one of the sports I am excel at and to be a productive member to help my University win their divisions. Yes, my goal is to play at the collegiate level but I also plan on majoring in Business and Marketing and to continue on to Law School.
Individually I feel that I am a great candidate for a collegiate team because of my work ethic on and off the practice arena. I am a hard worker and gives over 150% in practices regardless of the day or mood I am in. I am a very coachable athlete, I take corrections and strive to be better than I was at the last practice, competition or meet. As far as grades I have a good high GPA that is consistent with my time management skills and organizations that allows me to excel in both sports and academics.
As an athlete I put in the time and practice and make every second count. I have not been fortunate enough to have money to be able to spend on camps, special training or private lessons as many of my teammates have. I also do not have a parent that is able to have keys or access to gyms to practice whenever I want. I have a single parent mom that has supported me and my bother in our activities and does her best to financially help us get what is needed for us to participate in the sports we love. Unfortunately that means that I only get time to improve during practices, so I do make every second count. Since the 7th grade I have participated in the following sports: Volleyball, Soccer, Cross Country, Track & Field, School Cheerleading, Tennis, Swim, Dive, Basketball, and All Star Cheerleading. I have participated and lettered in the following sports in high school: Varsity Cheerleading - where I am 1st all district, regional, conference and all state flyer; Varsity Swimming - where I have been on the district, regional conference and state team; Varsity Dive - where I am all conference diver, and 2nd all state 3A diver with only 2 months of practice to learn my dives to compete in; Varsity Tennis - where we were regional team; Varsity Girls Cross Country- where I am top 2 runner for our school after not running for 3 years with a 5k time currently of 20 minutes and a mile time of 5:30; Spotswood high school soccer and basketball. In addition to these sports I also compete with VAST- USA Swimming league that I year round as well as All Star Cheerleading - where I have been on a level 5 Worlds team since 2012 and am a current team member or Cheer Extreme Coed Elite who is the reigining
What makes me different from other athletes is that I truly love the sports I play. I do not participate in sports because it is my family tradition or my parents have forced me into playing. I do it because I enjoy the sports I am in, I love competition and love achieving goals to make me a better athlete. I thrive on hard workout days and hard practices, I am the athlete that does not complain at practice and always has a smile and encouraging words to help my teammates push themselves more to gain team winning goals. Yes, I play many sports but I have proud to say that I do excel in all the sports that I play because of my commitment level in and out of practice. I have putting in from 25 to 30 hours of workouts in sports by choice to help up my stamina in the sports that I am in. Per high school sport session I usually am involved in a minimum of 2 to 3 sports per session.
As listed in my profile I have many sports listed that I am involved in, but I am also very involved in my community through other activities that are not sports related. I am a Girl Scout that is currently working on my Gold Award after earning various merit badges as well as my Bronze, Silver and other leadership awards. I am a member of DECA and FBLA , Young Life and am currently on my High School Debate team. I also volunteer with All About Athletes Booster Club, which is a club that through volunteer workers earns money working at concerts t help athletes that do not have the financial ability to participate in a sport they love to do so.
As listed above I do participate in various sports, since the 7th grade I have played : Volleyball, Cheerleading, Cross Country, Wrestling, Track & Field, Swim, Basketball and Soccer. In High School I have participated and lettered in the following: Varsity Cheerleading - where I am 1st all district, regional, conference and state flyer; Varsity Swim - where I have been on the district, conference, regional and state team; Varsity Dive - where I am all Conference 29 champion and 2nd all State 3A diver with 2 months of practice to learn all my dives having never done dive before; Varsity Girls Cross Country - where I am top 2 runner for our school after not running for 3 years with a time of 5k of 20:01 minutes and a mile time of 5:30 minutes, hoping to have that drop this session to a lower time; Varsity Tennis- all regional team; Spotswood High School Soccer- forward, and Basketball- point guard. In addition to the many sports I also hold titles in: Virginia's Worlds Perfect Athlete- Cheerleading; Virginia National American Miss Pageant, Soapbox Derby Worlds Champion representing Virginia in Stock and Super Stock cars; Currently on Team USA 2016 World Championship for the Performing Arts in Cheerleading. I have been awarded the Joe Taylor Award by my school, an award given to an athlete who has participated in 3 or more sports and have a 3.0 GPA or higher all year long.
The one thing that sets me apart from other athletes is that I am very grounded. I have never had a mom that wears "mom goggles", she has always been honest about how I am doing in my sports and has been my biggest supporter in all my activities. I have never gotten big headed or thought I was the best. I always keep in the back of my mind that there is someone out there better than me and that is what makes me push harder to be better the next practice, completion or meet. I am a very coachable athlete and take corrections to improve. I feel I am ready for the next level, play at the collegiate level. I can not wait to personally speak to you so see how I can make a positive impact on your team and school.
