Personal Statement

My name is Jayla Kucy and I am a competitive golfer from Canada.   I am a multi-sport athlete that loves competition and being part of a team. My family supports my goals, they have always helped me to try to achieve the highest level of competition in anything that I attempt.   I am currently in Grade 11, but I play in local, state, and national competitive tournaments all over North America.   I play in amateur tournaments that have a vast range of age levels.  I have played many junior events, but also seek out under 19 ladies events and even play in a number of ladies events where possible, and have had some success.  I have had many amazing golf experiences, and I really love the sport.  I look forward to how far my game can go as I grow as a person in the aspects in my life.

I am an excellent student and I am motivated to work hard in my studies.  I have two older brothers;  my oldest brother (Senior in College) playing on golf scholarship in the state of Delaware and my other older brother (Sophmore in College) playing on golf scholarship in the state of Minnesota.    I want those opportunities now, but know we have to wait for our turn.

I am looking for the opportunity to study and play golf in the Fall of 2024, that seems like a far time away, but it takes a lot of time find the right school academically and athletically .

I look forward to the prospects of discussing student athlete opportunities in the near future. I am a NCSA member.

Thank you for your consideration

  • https://www.maplejt.com/tour.php?id=2022001&p=release Hurricane Nicole ended up being no match for 110 top golfers on Canada’s number-one played Junior Golf Tour, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour, as they managed to conclude a highly successful 24th season on Sunday with the final round of the MJT National Championship presented by TaylorMade and adidas Golf at Orange County National Golf Club in Orlando, FL. The course, which has held both Korn Ferry and PGA Tour qualifying events, hosted a practice round and two rounds of competition on November 11 through 13 after the storm played havoc with travel and play. • The pre-tournament favorite in the junior girls’ division had to be Camrose’s Jayla Kucy, the three-time defending Tour Champion, and the ‘mundanely predictable’ held form this afternoon, as Kucy four-peated with a 4-over par 74. But the Camrose junior needed every one of her four birdies, as Brynne Davies of Earl Grey was hot on her heels with a 75. Paired together in one of the feature groups, Davies and Kucy more or less went about their business on the course, as Kucy admitted, “I didn’t even know where I stood with Brynne” during the round. “I was just playing golf.” https://albertagolfjuniors.org/article/kucy-and-flick-crowned-champions-at-ajt-tour-championship

  • ALBERTA JUNIOR TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP
  • 8/28/20 to 8/28/20
  • Jayla Kucy of Camrose became the first three-time winner of the Tour Championship, as she completed her three-in-a-row streak of championships in very exciting style. Locked in a battle with Jenna Burggeman of the Derrick Golf & Winter Club, Kucy was in fact a shot behind Jenna as the players arrived on the 17th tee. Fairly calm early morning conditions had given way to more typical Wolf Creek weather with sunny skies, but very gusty conditions as all the players did a great job of battling through the winds. Jayla’s par on 17 pulled the players even heading to the final hole, and when Kucy rolled in a 20-footer for birdie and Bruggeman made bogey, the three-peat was complete. What an exciting finish! https://albertagolfjuniors.org/junior-tour-championship

  • Trestle Creek Junior Open
  • 8/06/20 to 8/06/20
  • We had an excellent field of 13 junior girls today, one of the highest totals of the summer from events north of Red Deer. Jayla Kucy of Camrose turned the tables on her friend Brooke Frerichs of the Glencoe in Calgary. Yesterday in Barrhead, Brooke came out on top, but today Jayla fired a sensational 2-under par 70 to capture the girls’ division, three shots clear of Frerich’s 73. Saylar May of Pine Hills GC in Rocky Mountain House fired a solid 80 of her own to finish third and earn her own spot in the field for Wolf Creek in the process. The Junior Girls’ Wild Card spot up for grabs today went to young Serin Girard (92) of River Bend GC in Red Deer, who will be one of the younger competitors at the Tour Championship with her 2009 birth year. https://albertagolfjuniors.org/junior-tour-event-19

  • Goose Hummock Junior Open
  • 7/30/20 to 7/31/20
  • A familiar face won again today in the junior girls’ division as Camrose’s Jayla Kucy fired steady rounds of 77-76 to post a 153 total, 11 shots clear of the Royal Mayfair’s Kalee Seto (85-79). Seto snagged today’s available spot for the Tour Championship. https://albertagolfjuniors.org/junior-tour-event-17

  • WHITETAIL CROSSING JUNIOR OPEN
  • 7/21/20 to 7/21/20
  • In the Junior Girls’ division today, form held as two-time defending Tour Champion Jayla Kucy of Camrose was best of the seven girls on hand, firing a tidy 77, ten shots clear of Zoe Banack of Edson. Banack wasn’t entirely unhappy though, as her effort snagged the available Tour Championship spot up for grabs today. Anna Kibria of the Edmonton Petroleum GCC was third with a 90. https://albertagolfjuniors.org/junior-tour-event-7

A field of 53 golfers are in the field for this weeks Alberta Ladies Amateur at the Lakeside Club in Chestermere. And one of the first things you notice is how many good young golfers are in the field. 14-year-old Jayla Kucy of Camrose is one of the youngest. She says she started playing golf when she was just four years old.

  • 8/27/18 to 8/27/18
  • In the junior girls' division, 12-year-old Jayla Kucy of Camrose continued her recent run of strong play as she fired a very impressive 77 to become the youngest-ever Tour Champion, boy OR girl, in Tour history. Kucy captured the Alberta Golf Bantam Championship last week at Goose Hummock Golf Resort and left Kaitlyn Wingnean of the Derrick in her rear view mirror on Monday. Wingnean, who won the Titleist Order of Merit titles on the Tour from 2015-2017 inclusive, was runner-up with an 83. Kaitlyn has had a nice summer as well, as she finished third at the Alberta Golf Junior Girls Championship at Coyote Creek GR in Sundre back in July and was part of Team Alberta at the Golf Canada Canadian Junior Girls Championship in BC earlier this month. http://www.mrossjrtour.com/tournament/2018/wolf-creek-golf-resort---tour-championship
