Personal Statement
When my father took 6-year-old-me to the driving range one day, I became fascinated and drawn to this sport called golf. Practicing at the range and putting greens as well as going out on the course with my father who loved golf as much as I did, I improved and became stronger. I celebrated the great successes and struggled through the low points, but I continue to play for my love for the sport. As I grew older, I started to play in tournaments and learned the competitive side of golf including the values of a composed and controlled mentality. Dedicating my time after school and during school breaks to golf has given me the chance to learn from coaches and especially reflect and build on my mental strength and personality.
In school, I am focused on my studies and maintain an unweighted 4.0 GPA. I take honors and IB classes in subjects that I am interested in and work hard to fully understand the concepts and ideas. I value my studies highly and will put academics before golf in any situation. I am part of the Model UN Club where I experienced the workings of solving world problems. Outside of the classroom, I am part of Key Club where I serve my community through our local Hospice and helped teach elementary students to play the clarinet in their band. I started playing piano when I was six which I fell in love with and have not stopped since.
