Aloha.
My name is Moana Nakayama. I am a McKinley High School student in Honolulu, Hawaii.
I started playing golf when I was 8 years old because of my older sister who played golf.
When I was 10 years old, I started participating in golf because my sister won the state championship and was influenced by her participation in major golf tournaments in Japan and Australia.
I also liked dancing, so I worked hard at both dancing and golf.
In dance, I was selected as a member of the world competition in the salsa category.
When I was 12 years old, I won a golf competition in Japan and was chosen to represent the prefecture, so I devoted myself to golf!
The stretching, spring, and sense of rhythm that I learned from dancing has been very useful in my golf game!
When I was 14, I won the junior high school golf tournament.
From the ages of 15 to 17, I participated in and won several junior and world championships in Australia.
In 2020, I also participated in the national high school golf
In 2020, I will be playing golf hosted by the Hawaii State OIA, and I have participated in many of the top 10 junior tournaments still in Hawaii, with the goal of making the Hawaii National Team.
I have also been published in a series of golf magazines every two months since I was 16, covering a variety of golf topics.
