Personal Statement
Hi, I'm Gracie Salvator and I am a junior at Olympia High School. I started golfing at a young age but gave it up for softball and basketball, freshman year I joined the golf team and decided that I wanted to focus on golf again.
My freshman year average was 49.6 and was in the #4 golfer position for my team. I shot a 99 at regionals and advanced to sectionals.
Sophomore year my average was 46.1 and was in the #2 golfer position. At regionals I shot a 89 and at sectionals I put up a 91, which missed the cut for for state by 3 strokes.
This year, junior year was a very successful year for me. My average was 41.7 and I was the #1 golfer on my team. I shot 83 at the U-high invite placing 9th, I also placed 9th in the HOIC with an 86. At regionals I shot an 89 which I was a little discouraged about, but redeemed myself at sectionals and shot 80 which tied for 6th and advanced to state. I didn't do very well at state, I shot an 89 which didn't make the cut for the 2nd day.
I am the first girl in the history of my school to ever advance to state for golf. My goal for next year is to improve my game so that I can place top 10 in state.
My senior year started off on a great note, i shot my all time low, 78, at one of our biggest tournaments for our high school team and I placed 5th. I placed first in the majority of all of our team meets averaging a 40.9 for the season. I also shot an 81 at conference placing 7th and earning All-Conference for the second year in a row. I did not place at regionals, there were only 4 spots available to move onto sectionals. Even though my high school season was over i still continued to play in tournaments and ended up shooting my new low of 76.
I am a 4x MVP for my high school team!
