My love for golf started when I was very young and, believe it or not, it didn't even come from playing golf. I was very fortunate and blessed to have grown up in a neighborhood that had a private 9 hole course. My earliest memories of golf involved getting to ride in a cart while my dad golfed.
As I got older, I started to fall in love with not just the cart rides, but with actually playing golf. For as long as I can remember, we would always have golf, whether it was the PGA or LPGA, on the TV. In 2017 I attended my first LPGA event, the Volvik championship in Ann Arbor Michigan. I got to meet Stacy Lewis, Lexi Thompson, and many others. It was around that time that I started playing golf and dreaming of the opportunity to play golf in college.
Since that time, my love for golf has only become stronger. I used to like golf a lot. Then I started to love golf. Now I live for golf. After family and friends, golf is my greatest passion. Nearly every day of every week I am doing something related to golf, whether it is chipping and putting, hitting balls in my garage, or getting out to play a quick round.
I really only started playing competitive golf when I tried out for my high school golf team, and made varsity as a freshman. That was a defining moment for me because I realized that I not only loved golf, but that I also had some talent for the game. I was very proud to be a regularly playing member as a freshman on a varsity team that achieved 7th place in the state finals. In 2022, we won our state championship with a 42 stroke lead. More recently I have faced some adversity with a lingering hip issue that kept me out of the 2023 State Championships. I am currently in PT and feel like after 6 months of this nagging issue I am finally feeling nearly 100%. I look forward to competing again and plan to play in several tournaments this summer before my senior season and year.
As a golfer, I believe my strengths are my leadership, commitment to my team, and work ethic. Being newer to competitive golf, my focus is on improving my consistency, and the mental approach to the game, as evidenced by the fact that my best round in high school golf last year was in the upper 70's, while my worst round was in the upper 90's. From an academic standpoint, I like to challenge myself, and have taken a schedule with numerous honors and AP classes.
My dream is to play at a school that will challenge me in golf, as a person, and academically.
