Personal Statement
My name is Rachel Fay. I have been playing competitive golf since I was 13 years old. I started playing in tournaments on the US Kids Golf Junior Tour and ended up winning the points race for my age group. This was when I realized my love for the game. The next three summers I participated in Top 50 Junior Tour and Callaway Meijer Junior Tour tournaments to prepare for high school golf. I learned a lot in my freshman year – I even won my first high school tournament – and earned a spot at the MHSAA Girls Golf State Finals. I gained more golf management experience during my sophomore year. I won the CHSL Championship and was named to the All-Catholic and All-State teams. I was named Asst-Captain and Co-Captain in my sophomore and junior years respectively where I displayed a “lead by example” attitude. My confidence grew during my junior year where I finished in the Top 5 in 9/10 tournaments I participated in and ranked 1st in Division 4 for total amount of Pars made. During my Junior year, I was named to the All-Catholic, All-Regional, and All-State teams. I was also the only Division 4 athlete that was named to the Oakland County D1 Dream Team. My goal is always to be better today than I was yesterday. I’m working hard this winter to make sure my senior year will be an unforgettable one.
