Amanda Murphy '11 Recruiting Profile

My name is Amanda Murphy. I started playing golf when I was about 5 or 6 but, did not start playing competitively until my freshman year of high school. I was on JV all of freshman year but sophomore and junior year I was on Varsity. I have not competed in any other association other then for my high school. Freshman year I was voted most improved and I took 12th place in the Rosemount Irish Invitational while on the JV team. This last year I was voted a team captain. In 2007 I was awarded an Outstanding Academic Excellence award and in 2008 I lettered in academics. To me, you need to enjoy playing golf before you can compete. Without having a love for the sport there can be no competition and you wouldn't have a reason to want to compete. I enjoy competing, even if I have a bad day, it means I'm human and there is always room to improve. I love this sport and I want to continue to play throughout my college experience. I am interested in smaller schools with a good reputation in academics and sports. I would also prefer a school that is NCAA II or III. I'm open to public, private, or any religion based colleges. We are in need of financial assistance and will be applying for grants and federal aid. My goal is to major in physical therapy and minor in athletic training. I decided I wanted to be a physical therapist since I was 10 years old, and since then that dream has only become stronger. My athletic goals are to not only to help build a stronger team but, to also improve individually, all while representing my college of choice.
