My name is Pippa Goodbody and I am a junior at Grant High School in Portland, Oregon. I began playing golf at a young age, primarily as a summer sport, however, competitive soccer has dominated my calendar and slowed my development as a golfer. I have now made the decision to focus on golf, and I have seen my handicap drop steadily and expect that to continue through my Junior and Senior years. I was the #1 golfer at Grant in my Freshman year and qualified as an individual for the State championships, but unfortunately my sophomore year was interrupted by Covid 19.
I want to play golf in college golf because of my passion for the sport, I also know I am nowhere near my peak as a player, and college will give me the opportunity to achieve that. I am confident that college will allow me to play at the highest level possible, which will positively impact myself and the college that I attend. I believe that I will enjoy and thrive in the team environment of college golf, which is not something I have really had the opportunity to experience at high school.
For as long as I can remember I have been playing competitive sport, I am a two time state soccer finalist, 1 x State Futsal Champion and qualified and played at the Futsal World Championships, and continue to play soccer for both club and on my varsity high school team. I love to snowboard, travel, and have an interest in film and music.
I have not yet decided on a major, but business, marketing, writing, media studies and film/video and photographic arts are options that I am looking at.
It would be a dream to go to a great college and play golf with a team and coach I really connect with, whilst receiving a fantastic education. I truly think I will be an asset to any college, and will go on to become a successful student and athlete.
