Shinyao Zhang '25 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Shinyao Zhang, I am a 15 year old sophomore at Collège Saint-Joseph, QC, Canada. I started playing golf as a bonding activity with my family at the age of 9. We would have group lessons once per week but never took any of it seriously even if my coach said I had great potential. During the lockdowns in 2020, as a family, we decided to put that extra time into golf and thats when I fell in love with golf. From that year on, I enjoyed every moment on and off the course training to get better. Golf made me realize that I have to be mentally strong to go out in the real world; not only did it make me work on my mental strength but it also made me realize that if you work hard enough, you can do it. This sport has taught me so much including discipline, patience and hard work, but most of all it has taught me that nothing is constant and you have to be willing to adapt at any given moment.
