I have had a golf club in my hand since I was four years old. I enjoyed the game, the environment and continuously challenging myself. I found it refreshing that I would never play the same round twice, even on my home course. My high school golf journey was delayed by a year due to COVID. I realized that put me behind in recruiting milestones, but I didn't let that get me down. I am self-disciplined and focus on my improving my skills and dropping strokes. I am out there practicing every day during school, and throughout the summer. Nothing feels better than putting in the work and seeing it show on the scorecard.
Each year I achieve academic all-around, put in overtime on the course, and still have time to help my family with responsibilities around the house. I don't procrastinate, never complain and I definitely don't give up. I have been beat down with freezing temperatures during a tournament and when others gave up to find warmth, I kept playing even when I lost feeling in my hands (snatched up that trophy and thawed out afterwards). My tour tournaments seem to always fall on a cold or rainy day, so my handicap suffers, but I play my best, and with integrity, but most of all I am courteous and kind out there - even when others are so cruel. That's my character. https://www.lauren-thompson.com
