Personal Statement
“Your mind is the generator, your body is the motor. The club is the trigger, the ball is the bullet. TAKE AIM & FIRE!” (Moe Norman). My inspiration grew from this quote as it explains how simple golf is, yet in reality, it is so hard. Why?
My golf life started in the driving range, just like any other golfer. My dad was the one who got me into this sport by just handing me a heavy club and telling me to hit that tiny white ball into the hole. I always tried so hard, but it never came easy. I always wondered how hard can it be to hit that little white ball with a big club, yet I still missed most of the time.
One thing that I think was different from any other golfer is that I started to aspire to be a golfer at a young age. I would work as hard as possible and soon enough not miss the ball at all. Although I still have difficulty getting the small sphere into a huge hole in the smallest amount of strokes possible, I enjoy the challenge. The challenge of figuring out what shots to hit in different lies, the challenge of handling pressure in tournaments, and so many other things. I will continue to persevere and work hard to reach my goal of becoming the best LPGA player ever and inspire future generations.
Apart from golf, I enjoy listening to music and this has been the hobby that I participate in the most, as I listen to music all the time. Music helps me relax and sometimes gets me energetic. One of my most recent hobbies has been photography, as I love to take photos of nature. The trees, plants, and views of nature are so beautiful that I love to capture them. Another one of my passions is helping the community, as I have started to contribute by organizing community food drives. In the past, I have gained experience with food/toy drives and fundraisers through school clubs like Me to We, Youth in Action, and many more.
I am currently in Grade 10 and aspiring to earn my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism by studying Sports Journalism while working towards the goal of becoming an LPGA Player. I believe I am a confident, hard-working, and athletic golfer, and I will continue to keep these characteristics. I know that I will do whatever it takes to become the best golfer ever and achieve my goal.
