My parents have always let me try new things and discover new sports, from surfing to volleyball. I became interested in golf in third grade when I joined The First Tee. In The First Tee, I have learned the core value of perseverance on the course and in life. Juggling a busy class schedule and sports schedule, I’ve learned to succeed and persevere by prioritizing and multi-tasking schoolwork and games or tournaments. In August, I started my Senior year in high school. My academic goal is to maintain an A average, take AP classes, participate in National Honor Society and continue to volunteer in my community.
I am on the Varsity Golf team and team captain as a Senior this year. My golf goal for this year is to become more consistent and lower my score into the mid to low 70’s. In between my school golf tournaments, I plan to play other tournaments both locally and state-wide to attain this goal.
This quote from Bobby Jones sums up my belief in both life and golf, “Golf is the closest game to what we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots and good breaks from bad shots, but you have to play the ball where it lies.”
