My 2024 class JGS ranking has improved from 642 to 288 in the last 14 months.
I won my first 2-day JGS college readiness tournament in Oct 2022 (over 6000y), and I have 2 second place finishes in other 2-day JGS tournaments (2021 & 2022).
Though I have had a golf club in my hand since I could walk, I found how much I really loved the game when I was 13 years old. As I walked down the course one weekend in 7th grade, I realized how much I was willing to give for golf and how much I wanted it. On the golf course, I have learned that one bad hole doesn’t have to affect the rest of your round. This knowledge transfers over to life as well. Everyone has hardships and bad days, and you can’t change what happened in the past. You can, however, start fresh each day with hope for a better tomorrow. I have also realized that I thrive on competition; it is one of the things that most motivates me. Whether I win or lose, there is always something to be learned from it. I know that challenges, pressure, and hard work don’t scare me. I look forward to challenges, and I give 110% of whatever is asked of me. Some of the things that are important to me as I evaluate my college golf options are team chemistry, high moral/ethical values and a commitment to working hard with a winning attitude.
Since I am homeschooled and believe strongly in the importance of education, I take mostly honors classes. Next year, I will take 100% Dual Credit and AP classes. My academic goals are to graduate high school with a STEM endorsement, 24 dual and AP credit college hours and pursue a computer science degree. As a freshman, I completed my first Python programming class as an elective and finished Algebra 1 and Geometry with a 98.9% overall math average. As a sophomore, I completed my first Dual Credit College Algebra class with a 99% overall grade as well as high A’s in all of my other classes.
My summer birthday helped my parents decide to hold me back in 1st grade, making me the oldest in my classes at church, my homeschool COOP, and most activities in which I have participated, in addition to being the oldest of four girls at home. Being the oldest has given me the great opportunity to grasp the responsibility of being a leader. With an ESTJ-T Myers Brigg personality and an 8-wing-7 enneagram, I will make everyone on the team feel welcome, prove trustworthy of the responsibility placed upon me, strive to do my absolute best, and use my love for life to bring joy and optimism to your team. I would be a valuable addition to your team because I am willing to work hard on the course and in the classroom, bring positivity to your team, and strive to be the best leader, athlete, student and friend I can be.
At the start of my sophomore year, I got incredibly sick: my digestive system shut down almost completely. I found myself unable to eat, focus, sleep, or participate in any physical activity. Despite these hardships that have persisted for almost 10 months, I have learned to rely on strength that only comes from Jesus. Through my hardship, I have learned to see the positive in ANY situation. I have learned the value of dedication, grit, confidence, encouragement, endurance, joy, and persistence through any level of pain. I may have to work harder than anyone to achieve my dreams, but when I reach them, the reward will be far greater. In the end, I will have achieved something far greater than a dream… I will have achieved the ability to get back up, no matter how high the fall.
