Track and field has always been my passion. The competition and speed. Channeling the fervent energy radiating off the crowd, the rushes of adrenaline, and nervous energy. After every race, I can clearly recall setting up on the starting line straining against my blocks and testing their hold, I ready myself for a grueling struggle, I find myself pawing at the track nervously rubbing my fingertips raw as I focus all my anxious energy on the finish line. The other instance vividly remembered is jerkily gasping for air as I pass the finish line and suddenly hitting that wall as all the adrenaline, energy, and fervor drains away and leaves just me. No longer part of something that feels so much bigger than me. Until next time.
I am a Christian first and a student-athlete second. Because of that, I push myself to the limit on and off the track. Knowing I am called to be an ambassador of Christ.
