I’ve been an all-around athlete playing on youth sports teams in softball, basketball, volleyball, and soccer—finally settling into Softball and Golf in high school. I loved softball and played eight years before high school, where I began as a freshman on the Junior Varsity team at IWHS.
Today, having chosen to eliminate softball after my freshman year, I’m looking forward to my Senior year as the Team Captain of our Varsity Golf Team and looking back on consistently elevating my game year after year. I’m excited about my role as the Team Captain this year and my chance to guide my team in a positive attitude and sportsmanship that represents our school well. I enjoy encouraging my teammates. I am tough on myself from a performance standpoint and have to work on controlling my emotions, and helping my teammates helps me do that. I am excited about the fact that I have genuinely only been playing seriously for two years and still have so much growth potential in my game. I consistently have coaches comment on my current skill level versus time played, and what that means in the way of room for growth to meet my fullest potential. This past summer, I have consistently scored in the high 70’s to low 80's and confident that I’m on the path to continuing to elevate my game even further before graduation.
As an athlete and student at a college preparatory high school, I have had to develop organizational skills and self-discipline, attributes that provide for a successful transition into life as a college athlete. Although I love golf and look forward to a season of professional golf after college, I place equal importance on my academic goals. I currently hold a 3.3 GPA and am working to elevate that to a 3.5 or higher by graduation. I’ve spent my summer preparing for the SAT/ACT testing to maximize my scores and improve my overall eligibility.
While I am still struggling to define my college academic path truly, I have a passion for fashion. I am currently exploring the different fields in the fashion industry, from design to marketing, and everything in between. I have two older sisters that both took completely different paths from each other, as will I, but have learned that it can be challenging to come out of high school knowing exactly what your trajectory will be. The one thing I am sure of is my desire and commitment to a career as a College Golf Athlete. I am committed and excited about the mental and physical growth that will come from my immersion in a collegiate golf program. Most importantly, I am committed to being a positive representative for my team, coaches, and school at all times.
