I had the opportunity to compete for the Canadian Junior National Team for two years (2016-2017 and 2017-2018), and the Canadian Senior National Team from 2018-2019.
I was unfortunate to suffer a serious elbow injury shortly after making it to the Canadian National Senior Team and was required to have two surgeries. I made minimal appearances at Canadian gymnastics events, however worked hard behind the scenes on my recovery, strength, and flexibility. I took advantage of my recovery time to work on my weaknesses and improve certain aspects of my gymnastics. As much as this injury set me back and caused me to lose my spot on National Senior Team and all other opportunities related to being on the team, I look at this injury as a blessing. I realized to what extent I missed gymnastics, I was hungry for it and knew I needed to be back in the gym soon. I was determined to be stronger than ever. After my second surgery to remove my metal pin from my elbow in December 2019. Since the Fall of 2020, I am fully recovered and have regained all of my previous skills plus more. I have confidence my overall gymnastics improved since before my injury. I am excited I am back to full training!
Attending a Division 1 school would fulfill my lifelong goal of competing for an extraordinary team and receiving proper education. Each time I watch NCAA gymnastics I fall in love with the idea of one day being there all over again. NCAA has been a dream of mine since first knowing it existed. I am in love with the team spirit and energy created and strongly believe it is the environment I am meant to be in!
