My name is Fontavia Hansen but I go by Tavia. My journey in gymnastics is different compared to a lot of others. In 2019 I had quit gymnastics due to constant injuries. I then got into coaching at my gym Solid Rock Gymnastics and absolutely fell in love with it. I realized in April of 2022 that I missed gymnastics more than anything. I missed the atmosphere of hard work and dedication and mostly the fun and joy gymnastics brings me. May of 2022 my coach Jessica Andrewson and I decided that I could come back as an event specialist, so as of now I am coming back as an event specialist for the 2023 season. In the future I am possibly considering doing all around. I have always been dedicated to this sport, if I wasn’t training I was coaching our pre-team and level 3’s. The dedication I have for this sport is something that I’ve had since I was little, and ever since then I’ve had the dream of competing in college. I want to be apart of the uplifting environment and the fun of gymnastics that can be lost in club or elite gymnastics. This sport is so grueling on our minds and body and having college gymnastics where I can compete at the highest level of gymnastics, be committed, and compete every weekend with my teammates, has been one of my biggest dreams.
Academically I am homeschooled/online school, I have been doing this since 2020 and love it, but also miss the public school life of school functions working with classmates, ect. I would love to get this life in college. I am very interested in studying kinesiology to become a physical therapist assistant or something a long those lines. I have always had a passion for the way our body works and why, especially in sports. I am very passionate about everything I do and am excited to start the next chapter in my life!
