Personal Statement

NCSA Personal Statement

As a highly competitive hockey goalie I wish to play at the highest level possible at which I can achieve greatness. My name is Jasmine El Gazzar and to have you and your university or college consider my skills to be an asset to your team would be a great honour. By being able to play for your team would be an amazing experience which I would be gladly devoted to during my years at your school. If you were to accept me to come and join your team you will not be disappointed by my desire to play, my determination to achieve greatness and my dedication to the game of hockey.

As a 5’7” 125 pound female hockey player I know that I have to be strong in and out of
the net. Lifting weights and cross country running, for example, are just two
of the many ways I ensure that I can be in the best shape possible. By ensuring
that I am in the best shape possible, I can better guarantee that my skills are
of better quality than someone who does not put as much effort into training on
and off the ice. Due to the fact that I put much effort into training I was
able to make and play for many highly competitive teams. During my thirteenth and
fourteenth years of life I was able to attend and represent Team BC at the
Western Canadian Championships as part of Thompson Okanagan Ringette League and
Lower Mainland Ringette League select ringette teams. I also had the privilege
of being able to travel to Kimberly and Cranbrook, British Columbia, to
represent Zone 2 at the BC Winter Games in 2008. Another important achievement
of mine would be playing for the Regional Female AAA Midget Hockey team. I have
been playing for this team for three years now and it has been an amazing
experience. I continue to enjoy working hard, leading and most importantly
loving the game of hockey. By playing for this team I was able to attend many
high competition tournaments and games and was also able to improve my skills
as a hockey goalie.  Lastly, my most inordinate
accomplishment would most definitely be the fact that I was able to represent
British Columbia at the 2011 Canada Winter games in Halifax, Nova Scotia. After
countless practices, training sessions, tournaments, games, fitness testing and
traveling across the country during our two year try-out period, I was given
the privilege to attend this once in a lifetime tournament. I learned a great
deal from the experience as a starting goalie in a prestigious tournament.

As realistic goals for the future go, I would enjoy playing for your team. I think it would be
an amazing experience and that I would learn much from it. Other than playing
hockey I would most definitely enjoy going to school and enrolling in Adventure
Tourism and Marine Biology. Due to my upbeat and athletic personality my future
career in either: Adventure Tourism, Marine Biology or a combination of the two
would most definitely suit me. The fact that I am a well-rounded person is an
asset when it comes to choosing the exact school I would like to attend. I am
quite open to many different kinds of schools. For example, I would enjoy
entering a program that is offered at either a larger school or a smaller
school. I also do not have a serious preference where the schooling may be
located.

Being a well-rounded person is a great asset in choosing a player for a team. If you were to choose
me to attend your school and play for your team I can assure you that you will
not be disappointed with my outstanding personality. My positive attitude can
encourage a team to keep working hard if we are down, or it can encourage them
to give that last final push if we are ahead. Even though I am not a captain on
my hockey team, I have learned that you do not to be a captain to be a good
leader. I am more than capable of leading from my net and will continue to do
so throughout my season with my current hockey team and hopefully into my next
season with your team. Other important factors about my personality which would
benefit your team would be the fact that I am highly competitive, well-disciplined
in my sport, and the fact that I am a very hard working athlete. With these key
factors in mind you can count on me to do anything I can to aide my team to
success, from staying an extra ten minutes at the gym or pushing just a little
bit harder in practice. Also, considering the fact that I am a very busy person
I have learned to manage my time quite well. I am quite capable of maintaining
good marks in school while also finding time to play hockey, run, workout,
practice piano, volunteer and work.   Because I can manage my time well I would be
able to enjoy playing for your team more due to the fact that I will not be as
anxious about my schooling and my marks. As a last note, I enjoy giving back to
the community that has helped me succeed in my athletic life by helping coach
atom house goalies every Tuesday. This has taught me how to become a better
leader and has also helped my technique by working with them.

As a highly competitive hockey goalie I wish to play at the highest level possible. I would be very grateful to have you
and your university or college consider my skills. I would find this to be a
great honour and an amazing learning experience. To be able to play for your
team would be an amazing experience which I would be gladly devoted to during my
years at your school. If you were to accept me to come and join your team, you
would not be disappointed by my desire to play, my determination to achieve
greatness and my dedication to the game of hockey.
