Personal Statement
Since I started playing hockey when I was four years old, I’ve always been setting goals for myself. When I was younger, these goals started out as “learn how to lift the puck by Christmas time.” As I got older and more experienced, these goals became more and more difficult to reach, but also more and more exciting to achieve, having worked so hard for them. By working hard to get better every day, I hope to reach my goal of earning an opportunity to play challenging, competitive, college hockey at an elite academic institution. I am most interested in schools that offer a challenging academic experience in an open environment where I can study, explore, and grow as a person and a creative writer.
Aside from enjoying the competition, intensity, and strategy of hockey, teamwork has always been a factor that I love about the game. I like to celebrate the talents of my teammates, so that together, the team is greater than the sum of its parts. We can achieve more together than any individual can achieve on her own.
I look forward to being a part of strong team in the future that will help me grow as a student, athlete, and person while offering my full determination and eagerness to help my teammates reach both their individual goals and our shared team goals.
