Dear Prospective Coaches,
Hello! My name is Ava Stice, I am 17 years old, and I am a senior at Minooka Community High School. My passion is playing ice hockey, and I am also a very serious student. I also work in the floral department of our local grocery store when I’m not studying or playing hockey. I am a right wing on the ‘24-‘25 Naperville Sabres 19U girls' team. I am proud to say we ended last season winning the NIHL 16U/19U Girls' Championship! Last season I had 16 points (7 goals and 9 assists) and my team had a 16-6-6 record. We also had one tournament championship in January 2024. My hockey team is like my second family, and I look forward to playing on a team in college where the culture of the team is the same.
The 2023-2024 season was my second season with the Naperville Sabres. For the 2022-2023 season, I played on the 19U girls' team. Before making the move to the girls' Naperville Sabres team, I was the only female player on the Bantam-level travel team with the Joliet Jaguars. I had been playing travel hockey with Jaguars boys' teams since I was in fourth grade, and had played on the house team with the Joliet Jaguars since first grade. I am a forward and can play both right and left wing.
I have a 4.2/4.0 GPA, and have been on the High Honor Roll at MCHS since my freshman year. I am also a NIHL Academic Excellence Athlete, and I am a member of the Senior Class Committee for MCHS. I teach for the learn to skate program with the Joliet Jaguars, where I especially love getting young girls excited about hockey and growing our game. I also am active in my church, the Cathedral of St. Raymond, where I attended school from kindergarten through 8th grade. My interests outside of hockey are anything animals, trying new foods, baking, art, history, and finding quirky antiques, and going on road trips. I haven't decided which college major I want to pursue, but I am leaning towards Marine Biology or Zoology.
