My name is Sarah Kjemhus, I began playing hockey at the young age of three on a small-town team in the rural community of Hythe, Ab. Growing up with two older brothers not only gave me a competitive edge but made me tougher both mentally and physically. While I was always one of two girls on the boy's hockey team, the need to be the best player and person I could be was always high. It wasn't until pewee when I joined my first female team that I realized how much more hockey is than a game and I wanted to pursue university hockey. I am currently in my first year at Okanagan Hockey Academy on the Female u17 prep team and as of now am very interested in biology/medicine. I have always been an honours student who cares and takes pride in my school work, and am currently holding a 96% average.
Although I may not always be the loudest person on the team, I try to lead by example and speak up when necessary. I am always a welcoming friendly teammate with a great attitude. My size, work ethic, and hockey IQ give me an advantage over my fellow competitors. I am a reliable defensive defenseman, who enjoys jumping up into the play and creating smart offensive plays.
