Hockey was not a sport played by anyone in my family nor was it presented to me as an option, but for reasons I cannot recall, at eight years of age, I asked my parents if I could play. Years later, after playing on boys teams and laterly with girls, it has helped shape the person I am today. I am dedicated to becoming the best defensive player possible through rigorous training, on and off ice, as well as extending my season with spring hockey. Most recently, my hard work and dedication has earned me a spot on a AAA team this upcoming season.
Although I have dedicated years playing multiple sports I love, academic success is most important. This is exemplified by a freshman year average of 95% including a place on the honor roll with great distinction. In addition, music is a large part of who I am. I've been playing piano since age five and am proud to state I have completed level 8, Royal Conservatory of Music.
I have been identified as a leader in and outside the classroom by my teachers and coaches. This includes speaking on behalf of classroom peers as well as being selected as alternate captain twice for hockey, notably this past season on my AA Comet Impact team. Together, our team won the provincial championship, Calgary Firestarter, and Emily Clark Classic tournaments.
In addition to a leader, many of my coaches have described me as a coachable, respectful player not afraid to ask questions. Not only do I work hard for myself, I strive to be the best teammate and leader on and off the ice. (I am a strong defensive player with a good IQ, helping me to make good decisions and passes; I have good body positioning and am a reliable.) Being a four sport, team athlete, high level basketball, flag-football, baseball and hockey have groomed me to be an effective teammate and player. Dedication to these sports as well as to academic and musical success, has taught me to prioritize and manage time efficiently.
Since day one on the ice, I have loved hockey. The team work, the friendships, the adrenaline rushing through my body, the feeling of doing my best and working hard, and the feeling of making a perfect pass or winning battles drives my passion. I love hockey. That is why my goal is to play D1 female hockey for a like minded coach, with teammates who share a passion for the game. Combined with on ice video footage, I hope to have provided enough information to be identified as a contender for a future place on your team while attaining my goal of completing pre-med to become a doctor.
