Hello! My name is Madelyn Ferreira, and I go by Mimi. I am a 2026 goaltender from Winnipeg, Manitoba. I am playing for the top team in Manitoba, the Balmoral Hall Blazers, and we will be playing our first season in the CSSHL for this upcoming season.
I am known as a very technical goaltender. I believe that technique creates a strong foundation for this position. I have worked with the same goalie coach for the past 8 years, Andy Kollar, who has worked with some of the greats, including Kristen Campbell and Corinne Schroeder. I've been very fortunate to learn from someone who has taught goalies playing at the highest level, and I definitely try to soak up all that I can in my lessons! I also believe that strength training is super important when you are a goalie. I work with a trainer on goalie-specific strength training, as I believe that strength leads to speed, which is super important for goalies.
My academics are also super important to me. I have consistently been an honour roll student in middle and senior school. In universtiy I would like to study health sciences and sports management. I have had a lot of help over the years to achieve my hockey dreams, and one day I would like to do the same for others. I plan on owning my own business, and would like to study nutirtion, biology and management to accomplish this.
I really focus on being a leader both on and off the ice. Whether I am playing or on the bench, I try to be as loud as possible, cheering my teammates on and encouraging them. I always love to help my team win, in addition to setting some personal challenges with every game and practice. Accomplishing these goals, big or small, helps me to become more and more confident, which is an important trait for a goaltender. Away from my team I also enjoy coaching younger hockey players. I've been lucky enough to have some great experiences and coaches in my years, and I like to try and be a great role model to the next generation of players.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile! I would love to discuss how I could be a great addition to your team, please reach out if you would like to chat!!
