Avery Blanchard '23 Recruiting Profile

I started playing hockey my freshman year when my friend volunteered me because no goalie was trying out for the new program. After five minutes of skating I realized I needed improvement, yet loved the sport and never wanted to stop playing. I kept working throughout the on and off season to not only get better for myself, but also for my teammates.  This year the work finally paid off and my high school team went to the elite eight in MIAA playoffs in our third season ever as a varsity team. Along with hockey I also throw the javelin and discus and also highjump.  I play three instruments, am in seven different honor societies, and  consistently make high honors . Balancing the work load can be challenging, but is very rewarding because I can continue playing my favorite sport.
