Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Amelia, I am a motivated and hard-working Australian female goaltender who has represented my country at U18 World Championships and my state at open women’s level (National Championships). I boarded at Lovell Academy in Rockland, MA, USA in 2024-25 to both continue my development as well as to see if I could get selected to play Ice Hockey at College Level. My hard work to date has paid off, as I was awarded the Most Improved at Lovell Academy and accepted an offer to play and study with Buffalo State University from 2025-26.

Why me? I believe the qualities that best compliment my goaltending are my work ethic, my coachability. and my genuine desire to be the best version of myself. I'm not shy of hard work, and I am able to reset after a setback and find another way to achieve the end goal (with the assistance of a coach/mentor). However, I am more than 'just a goaltender', my work ethic and desire to be the best version of myself extends to my studies and my social life. I am there for my team and my friends, and while I love winning, I understand the grind required to put together a winning tournament/season.

My reason for moving to the USA were to play the game I love at the highest level I can, and I also want to experience the US College environment - two opportunities which aren't available to me in Australia. Now I am here, I want to maximise the opportunities I have through playing and studying with the goal of seeing how far I can continue to grow and go. 2025 Lovell Academy Lions U19 (AAA)
Lovell Academy Lions U19 team, as a goaltender I have played on the gold, blue and elite rosters. Joined Lovell in August 2024 with the goal of improving my hockey and increasing my chances of playing college ice hockey. Voted Most Improved Player for the 2025/26 Season.
2024 Adelaide Jokerit Juniors (Junior National)
Training and Development, and competing in Newcastle in a mixed U18 Tournament. We won the tournament and I only had 2 goals scored on me.
2024 Adelaide Rush (Australian Womens Ice Hockey League)
My rookie season in the open national womens competition, I came in as number 2 Goaltender and started 7 games of the 16 game season. We went to playoffs and came 3rd overall.
2024 Australian Women's National u18 Ice Hockey (IIHF Div 1B)
Team finished 4th and remained in Div 1A - highest ranked Australian team ever (so far). I scored a shut out against Korea.

Ice Hockey South Australia run clinic, that does 3 x 10 week blocks of ice time on Tuesday nights, run by Jeremy Friederich. This was also developed into the a four day camp headed up by Sera Dogramaci in May 2023.
Off Ice Training

Off ice fitness training run by PEAQ Fitness and Parabellum Strength & Conditioning. Attended as part of junior training and then Adelaide Rush Womens training twice a week. Continued with similar programs at Lovell, and follow the Australian Womens ice Hockey program when I have been home in Australia.
