I have had a passion for hockey since my father laced up my skates in hometown Grand Forks, North Dakota. Since then, I played on multiple teams, actively participated in many hockey events, and have been a 3-year (soon to be 4) varsity athlete playing the women’s ice hockey team for my high school since my freshman year.
My father has been in the hockey industry for many years now, and has shown me the great opportunities the game has in store. He has coached all levels, from being one of my own coaches, to AAA hockey. He became the head coach of boys AAA hockey in 2015 to Victory Honda of Plymouth, MI. Soon moving forward, working along side with Bob Mancini as an assistant coach for AAA Honey Baked in early 2016. He has worked as a professional hockey scout for the USHL, and also the Barrie Colts.
I knew from a young age I wanted to play for the Fighting Sioux (now Fighting Hawks) UND women’s ice, but that dream was sadly diminished when they cancelled the women’s team. I now have set a goal to play women’s college ice hockey anywhere I can get my gloves on. My dream would be to play under Coach Robert Blackburn at MSU, who has come to a couple of our HS games this 2018-19 season and I have had the opportunity to speak to and show interest.
Being a student athlete, especially playing hockey; you learn a balance of schoolwork and your sport. I have the advantage of taking the majority of my classes online, which has prepared me for college and strengthened a lot of my technological and basic skills. Because of this, I learned in my early teen years, how to manage my time, responsibilities within being a student athlete, and maturity. Thus, making it easier on myself for wherever I set off to, seeking an education.
