My name is Amber McQuarrie and I am 19 years old. I want to earn a degree in Art Education. I would love to continue playing hockey at a competitive level while attending college. I enjoy hiking, biking, juggling, cross-fit, and doing ceramics and jewelry in my down time. I push myself in order to develop my skills and techniques on and off the ice. I attend cross-fit three times a week for conditioning and fun. I enjoy the team aspect of Hockey and the friends gained from it as I am very outgoing and energetic. I consider myself funny and love to listen to music.
I started playing roller hockey when I was 9 years old. While attending the NARCH tournament in Huntington Beach, CA, I earned the top goalie award in June of 2016. I transitioned to ice hockey with the New Mexico Mustangs Girls Hockey team in August of the same year. I was selected to attend Player Development Camp three years in a row, attended Lyndsey Fry camp, and Grand Canyon University prospect camp. I am currently the main goalie for the New Mexico Mustangs Girls Hockey AA travel team.
I have earned an Academic and Art Club letter through Sandia High School. I participated in community service events including sled hockey, animal shelter fundraising, and the Roadrunner Food Bank food drives. I earned 3rd place in Albuquerque, NM Metro Youth art exhibit and a Merit award which was financial. I had multiple art pieces in our State Fair youth exhibit.
I am currently attending The University of New Mexico which does not have a women's hockey program. For the mean time I will continue to play with my club hockey team until I transition to a college that has a women's hockey program. Hockey is a passion for me and I would love to contribute to a team that is dedicated to hard work and determination.
