Mackinley Ronan '25 Recruiting Profile

Since I started playing at the age of 4, I immediately fell in love with the game. From then on it has become my life‘s goal and my dream to take it as far as possible. I started out playing for a boys team in my hometown and played there until my bantam year. Those years helped me realize my potential and I moved to play at a Tier 1 level. This will be my third year with the Syracuse Valley Eagles, and those first two years with them have been crucial in my development as a player and a teammate. 

I have always been a driven player and my competitiveness continues to grow each year. My motivation, creativity on the ice, willingness to win every battle, effectiveness along the boards, and ability to play at both ends of the ice is what sets me apart from other players. In my defensive zone I am positionally sound and make smart, fast decisions followed by tape to tape passes to get my team out of the zone. I don’t hesitate to block shots and I am physical in front of my net. In the offensive zone I am quick at the blueline, create space for my forwards, and perform as an offensive threat. I get my shots off quickly and accurately to create scoring opportunities. 

While hockey is extremely important to me, so is furthering my education. I am equally dedicated to academics as I am athletics. I look forward to completing my degree and developing a career to help enhance the living spaces of others.
