Willa Runge '24 Recruiting Profile

Willa is a driven athlete and scholar who has lofty goals in life.  She is a fierce competitor who - once the game (ice or field hockey or even board game) is over — is all smiles and eager to make strong connections with teammates and opponents alike.

Willa is known for her work ethic and powerful skating and prides herself on her ‘never give up’ back checking style.  Her coaches would agree that she is a “give it her all” player who expects that of herself every practice and every game and enthusiastically encourages her teammates to do the same.  

Willa is a very flexible player who coaches know can be trusted at all positions.  While she has mostly played center over the years, coaches frequently move her to defense when they are short benched. They do so  knowing that she has the knowledge, toughness, and skating ability, as well as the team oriented mindset,  which means she is happy to do what needs to be done for the team’s success.
