Hockey is something I’m always thinking about. I love the sport very much and I always look forward to playing. I started playing later than most, but that never stopped me from working hard to catch up. My dad has always been a huge influence on me as he played hockey as well. He does anything he can to help me get better at the game. I believe there is always room to improve. It helps that he has been one my coaches for as long as I can remember.
I started to notice my potential about 2 years ago. I started to believe that playing at a college level was actually possible. I try to mimic my game after my favorite player, Patrice Bergeron. I admire how he carries himself on and off the ice. I always play as hard as he does defensively as offensively.
I have recently been chosen to attend the Eastern Selects 14 Camp. I will represent NYS later this summer in Massachusetts. I’ve also been chosen a captain or an assistant by my teammates on several teams and I thrive to be a great leader. I always try to be positive with my teammates. I want the best for them and our team as a whole.
My team last year was the best team I’ve ever been a part of. That group of girls made me realize how much I really love the game of hockey. We lost the New York State Tier 1 Championship to a very talented team. That made me realize that you must work hard everyday to be the best. I’m learning new things every day on and off the ice. I know I have what it takes to play at a higher level.
