Karsyn McManus '24 Recruiting Profile

• My name is Karsyn McManus, aside from the details above on my profile I have set really high standards and goals for myself as a student and player. My ultimate goal is to play NCAA Division I for a school that can provide me with an incredible post-secondary experience and education. I value my academics highly and I prove this by maintaining a 4.0 GPA. 
• Aside from setting high standards for myself as a student and player, I find great importance in settings goals to continue to develop and improve myself as a person.  I am a big team player, to the point that one of my biggest weaknesses is putting others before myself even in situations where I should be putting myself first. 
• I have played hockey ever since I was 3 years old and I wouldn't want to spend my time doing anything else, hockey has taught me so much about myself as a person. Many of my peers find me "funny, outgoing, and strong-minded." I believe that I try my best to do everything out of kindness. I volunteer on a regular basis with Helping Hamilton's Homeless, a non-profit organization where people come together to help provide for homeless citizens in Hamilton. Every Christmas I also organize a volunteer opportunity with my team. We collect socks for the homeless and Amazon gift cards for McMaster Children's Hospital. Volunteering and getting involved in the community are things I greatly enjoy. Getting involved has taught me that I am a very social person and this has shown through my leadership skills within my teams and groups. I am great at bringing people together and that is why I have served as a captain for many of my teams.
