Passion for reaching my physical, academic and social goals motivates me to make each day the best it can be for me and those around me. This means that I commit to training for my physical health and hockey goals, homework for my academic goals, vegetarianism for the environment and kindness in my relationships with people in school and on my team. I am bilingual (French and English) because my dad is French Canadian and my mom is English. I did my first few years of school at a French school on the Canadian Forces Base and then moved to a French Immersion program at an English elementary school that was closer to my house. I started playing rep hockey when I was in grade three (age 7) although many of my teammates had started earlier. This meant that I had to catch up. I worked very hard, training after school and continuing in rep soccer and swimming. I remember when I made the most competitive AA team in grade 5. I was jumping up and down! Hard work shows results. This experience influenced me to apply this effort to every area of my life that I wanted to see change. When I graduated from grade 8 and entered high school I received the Citizenship Award as well as a phys-ed award for my class. Academically, moving from an all French program to an English program is challenging. Again, I met with a tutor to help with my writing and now am in all IB level classes. My goal is to complete The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) through high school. After high school, my goal is to enroll in a University (American College) program where I can first complete an undergraduate degree (Pre-med or Psychology).
Whatever team I have played on (rep soccer, swimming, rugby, and hockey), I am known as the hard worker and a strong force on the team. I work hard on the boards to win the puck. This is how I run my life. I take each day on as a new task, I treat other people how I expect them to treat me and I stand up for people who are unable (or have not yet learned) to stand up for themselves. I work out three times a week with my trainer who sees me as a leader in the group. She supports me and she has given me additional opportunities to be involved in the athletic industry and in the community. This is a great compliment because most of the athletes who train with her have not had this opportunity. This gave me another example of how my hard work and kindness brings good things. Through hockey, I have learned the importance and payoff of hard work, that sometimes life is not fair, and that teammates are there for you whenever you need them and I am there for them when they need me. Hockey and athletics will always be part of my life. My goal is to make College hockey the structure and support that I need to do my best as a student and person in the next stage of my life.
