Deena Birney '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Deena Birney, I am 5'7 and weight 135lbs. I currently attend Cobourg Collegiate Institute, and I am just finishing my senior year. This coming year I plan on returning to my high school to take some extra classes. I currently play for the Kingston Jr Ice Wolves in the PWHL and I will play for them again next year. I have been playing hockey since I was 8 years old. I have always wanted to continue playing as long as I can at a competitive level, and playing at the collegiate level would be a great opportunity.

I am a team leader on and off the ice leading by example and trying to push my team mates to be the best they can be. I am a very hard working player who listens to any advice that is given.

I have been on the honor roll since I was in grade 8. And I also hope to continue my academic success at university where I can push myself in the classroom and on the ice. I am leaning towards a major in Engineering. And I am also keeping all of my options open to hopefully to find the right school that suits me best.
