My name is Jade McNicol, and for the 2025/26 season, I am taking a gap year to play Junior hockey with the North York Jr Storm U22AA team. This past season (2024/25), I served as an assistant captain for the Mississauga Hurricanes U18AA, and the year before, I held the same leadership role with the Hamilton Hawks U18AA (2023/24).
As a centre, I’ve consistently been recognized by coaches for my speed, vision, and playmaking ability. I take pride in my strong positional play, puck protection, and relentless effort on both the forecheck and backcheck. I’m a true team player who always looks to make the smart pass, which is why I’ve led my team in assists year after year. There's nothing more rewarding to me than setting up the perfect play that leads to a beautiful goal.
My goal is to play high-level university hockey while pursuing a degree in the medical field. Academics are a priority—I currently hold a 93% average and have been an honour roll student since middle school.
I’m a multi-sport athlete who played rep soccer until age 11 before transitioning to rep lacrosse. During the school year, I compete in field hockey, girls hockey, boys junior hockey, and baseball. This year, I had the honour of captaining both the girls hockey and baseball teams.
My athletic achievements include receiving the Athletic Award in Grade 8, the Field Hockey Award and Baseball MVP in Grade 9, and being named MVP for both the girls and boys junior hockey teams in Grade 10, along with Junior Athlete of the Year for my entire school.
I’m confident, competitive, and thrive in leadership roles. While I have a passion for all sports, hockey is where my heart truly lies. I stay committed to off-season training, focusing on strength, conditioning, stickhandling, and refining every type of shot. I’m always working to elevate my game and push myself to the next level.
Outside of organized sports, I also love to snowboard in my free time.
