My name is Laura MacDonald. I am 16 years old going into my senior year attending The Mount Academy, which is a preparatory school located in Prince Edward Island, Canada. I am from Halifax, Nova Scotia and will be taking a PG year while playing for the Mount, so I would be considered a 2024 recruit.
I currently play for U19 Female Mount Academy Saints, playing in the Junior Women's Hockey League (JWHL). I am a well rounded student-athlete, constantly aiming to improve my game along with maintaining a 3.9 GPA, so 94% average. On the ice, I am most recognized for my quick speed, edge work, PK skills and end-to-end 100% effort. Off the ice, I am outgoing, positive, and dedicated to uplifting and encouraging my team as often as possible. Other than working hard throughout the season, I spend my summers focused on strength and speed training, working on my skills, shot, and game knowledge. I am an extremely coachable athlete and embrace any constructive criticism given to me, and any challenges placed in my path. Making quick adjustments to better myself and my game. I strive to never let my coaches and teammates down and always give it my all. I have been a multi-sport athlete playing both high level hockey and gymnastics my whole life. I did Gymnastics from 3-14 years old. I was the Provincial Champion Gymnast of Nova Scotia and consistently placed top 7 at many year-round competitions. Recently I have made the switch to focus primarily on Hockey to pursue my goal of playing for a great University/College.
In order to achieve my strong athletic and academic goals, I plan to attend a University/College that compliments what I would like to become, along with pushing myself to my maximum potential as a hockey player.
