I am Victoria Petruska, a 2022 grad year (2004 birth year) and a left-handed forward playing with Dallas Stars Elite (AAA). I attended USA Hockey’s National camp in 2019 and had hoped to do the same this year, but for COVID-19. I also play for Team Texas Varsity Girls Hockey and winning the USA Hockey High School National Championship last year. Again, I had hoped for the same this year, but the season was cut short due to COVID-19. I am an athlete, a competitor, and a grinder. Prior to focusing seriously on hockey, I was a champion swimmer competing nationally and currently holding three Texas state records. I play for Coach Mike Salekin of Dallas Stars Elite, work on my power skating skills weekly with an NHL coach and regularly train with a skills and shooting coach who is a current NHL skills coach. I spent last summer with HTI Hockey Academy in Canada and hope to do the same this summer depending on COVID-19 restrictions. I consider myself a late bloomer since I began to focus seriously on hockey three years ago. Coach Salekin tells me that I have grown as a player quicker than anyone he has seen and that I have strong NCAA DI potential. With my family’s support, I plan to continue to develop as a hockey player and teammate at this rapid rate. My coaches tell me that some of my best assets as a player are my skating, shot, net presence/tipping and that I am coachable. For the 2020-2021 Season, I was selected for the Dallas Stars Elite Girls 19U Tier I (AAA), and I plan to help them become a top 10 team in the nation. I will continue to supplement this with training focused on improving my Hockey IQ, skills, and skating, and play Varsity Girls too. To share some prior season highlights: 2019-2020 Season
