Personal Statement
Dear Coaches,
I started hockey when I was 4 years old, after my dad took me to many open skates and I watched the hockey players come on afterwards. My dad asked me if I wanted to play, and I gave an enthusiastic yes. That was one of the best decisions of my life! I learned throughout the years and grew a lot in the game. By second year of 10U, I was invited to play on a boys' rep team. That year we won our state championships. I played rep the next year with that same group of kids, but felt like something was missing. In the spring of my first year of 12U, I played at a tournament with an all girls team from Seattle. Suddenly I noticed all the camaraderie and something clicked. Hockey wasn't just about hockey, it was about fun and friendships and how tightly knit a team could be. I realized how much different these things were with the girls team, and by the next year I was playing full time with the Lady Admirals. In the 2020-2021 season I got picked to go to the PNAHA District Camp, made many new friends and had a great experience. Over the years I have been picked to go to Districts 3 times, 2023 being my last year.
Ever since 12U I played for the Lady Admirals, both 14U, 16U and 19U teams. Last season I was team captain of the16us. This season I am moving to Burlington, Vermont to continue my hockey career and play for Rice Memorial Prep. I am excited for the big move and boarding and think it will help prepare me for college in many ways.
Throughout middle school I have maintained a 4.0 GPA and have continued the same grades through high school, currently having a 3.99. High school has proved an engaging challenge to balance honors class work with my games, practices and extra training. I really think my passion, grit, determination and positive attitude have affected the way I live and my busy schedule for the better. I'm always ready to take on a new challenge or solve any real world problem. I am open to constructive criticism and try to keep my hockey sense turned up every time I'm on the ice. I love hockey and hope to continue it through college and maybe beyond, all while getting a successful degree and learning about the world. With the help of my strong work ethic and enthusiasm, I think I could be an asset to any team I'm on, both on and off the ice.
Thank you.
