2016-17 HighlightsMy name is Ivy Shonka. I am a junior at Laurel High School, in Viroqua, Wisconsin. I attended a private Waldorf school until eighth grade, at which point I applied and was accepted to Laurel High School. Laurel High School is a charter school that uses a pass/fail class system. It is affiliated with the Viroqua High School, a public school, that uses the typical grading system. I take classes at both Laurel High School and Viroqua High School. My GPA for the classes I take at Viroqua High School is 3.98. I have received a Student-of-the-Month award for Spanish, science, and art. I am a dedicated student and am passionate about my education. I started playing hockey when I was four years old. Since then, my love for the game has only grown. I started out in learn-to-play-hockey and then moved on to a co-ed mites team. From there, I joined the all-girls program, playing for the Viroqua Thunder on U12 and U14 teams. In 2014, I played on the U14 Blue Devils team. Since then, I have played for the Viroqua Blackhawks and the Wisconsin Selects. I realized I had a goal to play college hockey when I was about 13 years old. From that point on, my desire to continue hockey past high school has grown. I am excited to see where my dedication and love for the game, as well as my enthusiasm for education will take me.
