As an athlete I’ve played many sports, all of which I’ve loved, but none of them truly filled my passion for the game. After being bullied in middle school I transferred to Zeeland as a Freshman where I found a new game-my game-lacrosse. The sport took my shattered confidence and built me back up again and most importantly it filled the void that I was desperately searching for my whole athletic career. It gives me the drive to want to pursue lacrosse at the next level in college.
As an athlete I’ve always pushed myself to be the best I can be in every sport I’ve played. I’ve always held myself to a higher standard, putting in the extra time, pushing and striving to improve at every practice and game. I make the effort to stay on top of my grades to ensure my eligibility to play. When it comes to lacrosse, my true passion, I find pushing myself to the next level isn’t a task, it’s a challenge I love to work at.
I don’t ever want to let my coaches down or my teammates, if I make a mistake I hustle and make the effort to correct it at that time and learn from it to improve my performance. I feel I catch onto things very quickly and I am mindful of any suggestions or corrections given by my coaches. I am always respectful to my coaches and my teammates all the time. I do have a lighter side as well and like to laugh and joke around having a good time when the mood and timing permits because I feel it’s an important part of team bonding.
If given the opportunity to play on your team and represent your school, I promise to always work hard and never let you down.
