Personal Statement
Since 2nd grade, when I began to play lacrosse, I just knew that I loved the sport. Now that I’ve played as a goalie for 7 years, I’ve truly come to respect the sport, the players, and the teams more than ever. In the past few years I have had many great opportunities to play lacrosse for both my high school team, Kellenberg Memorial, and my club/travel team, LI Jesters. On both these teams I have had the opportunity to play with and against the most talented players and also have formed close relationships with my teammates. Although lacrosse is my passion, I excelled on the varsity crew team at Kellenberg Memorial High School. From being on the crew team I have learned skill sets that also helped my mentality on the field. The main skill that was reinforced was teamwork; if the whole team doesn’t support one another, stay in sync, and maintain similar mindsets, they can’t succeed on the water or on the field. Additionally, the intensity of rowing has helped me to maintain and improve my conditioning in the crease. On the field, I like to be very vocal to support my defense and help them in whatever way I can. When it comes to communication, there is no such thing as too vocal! I think of myself and all goalies as the quarterback of the defense. Personally, I thrive under intense and competitive environments. In everything I do I aspire to give it my all, whether it is on the field, in the classroom, or with my community.
