Hi,
I am currently a senior at Union Pines High School. I have been playing lacrosse for the past three years on both a travel club team, ACS select, and now my High School varsity lacrosse team. However, playing on my High School team is relatively new to me, as 2019-2020 was the first year my school has had a female lacrosse team ever. Along with this new territory, came a new position for me to try. I was used to playing field, preferably defense at the time, but then I started to branch out into the mid field position. But as our High School season started, my coaches encouraged me to try goalie. I am now the starting goalie for our team, and a left handed one at that. Getting to experience and grow in these different positions has only helped me to love the game more. Being a student athlete continues to challenge my time management skills, allow the growth of my character, strengthen my work ethic, and encourage my ability to be a contributing and active team member. Lacrosse has allowed me to meet so many great people. My teammates and my coaches are an amazing support system. One that pushes me to rise to the occasion, to try new things, to experiment with new skills, and to never stop learning and growing. This is why I want to keep playing in college, not only for the athleticism and the game (even though I really love those parts), but also because of the great community within the sport. That's what I am looking for in a college and a team. I want to be able to form relationships with both the coach and the team members. Presently, I am looking for a college that will allow me to major in Pre-Veterinary Medicine or Biology. I would also like to minor in theater and dance, as I have been a competitive dancer for the past 10 years. Both dance and lacrosse have been extremely demanding of my time, not to mention school work on top of these two sports. However, I have managed to do well in all three of these areas. My high school team recently won our very first game, 4 to 5, while I was in goal with 13 saves out of 17 total shots on goal. I also recently had my first dance competition for the season, and my solo placed in the top 5. I have also managed to maintain my GPA, and I want to keep it up as I finish my last two years of high school. My total save average in goal is 48.9% with the majority of missed saves occurring within 1 meter of the crease for the four games of the season I have played as goalie. While this is below average for goalies, I am still trying to learn and grow as a goalie along with the rest of the brand new high school team. As a defender I am known for causing turnovers, fast break plays, and disrupting opposing attack plays. In the one half I played as a defender for my high school team (before I was put in goal for that game), I had 3 forced turnovers.
