I feel that what sets me apart as a strong candidate is that lacrosse is not the only activity that I am interested in. In addition to lacrosse, I find great joy in playing music, writing, math, and science. These creative outlets have provided me with a well-rounded perspective and a somewhat unique approach to the game. Playing music has taught me the value of rhythm, timing, and collaboration, which translates heavily into my gameplay. In a similar manner, creative writing has fostered my ability to communicate constructively, to think critically, and to be strategic on and off the field. In college, I plan to study biology and minor in math, driven by my love for a challenge and my curiosity about the intricacies of life. By embracing a dichotomy of interests outside of lacrosse, I have been able to maximize my potential and enhance my abilities.
Moreover, my multidimensional skill set has instilled in me a great sense of discipline, time management, and dedication. Balancing multiple passions has taught me how to prioritize tasks and remain focused under pressure, which has allowed me to maintain a 4.0 GPA on top of extracurricular activities and hours of practice on-and-off season. I would not say that I am the most orthodox recruit, I am low income and African-American, I have only been playing for two years, and I am not a member of any club team, all of which alienate me from the typical "lacrosse culture". In spite of all those obstacles, I believe that my love for lacrosse and diverse background, tenacity, and dedication to the pursuit of higher education make me an asset on any team.
