My name is Sarah Bohan and I am a senior at Guilford High School, in Guilford, Connecticut. Academically, I have been on the honor roll every semester since my freshman year. I am a conscientious student who recognizes the value of hard work and effort in achieving and apply this to my academics and sports.
Athletically, I participate in two varsity sports, fall cross country and spring crew. My 5:30 mile run time trial and 12:04 two-mile time trial attest to my overall fitness level. Although I believe that my running experience has contributed to the strong mental and physical stamina that is necessary to be a successful athlete I am most passionate about rowing. After concluding my cross country season on November 1st, I started training again on the erg and just completed another 2K erg test with a score of 7:51.
I began rowing in 2010 at the Yale Bulldog Rowing Camp in New Haven, Connecticut and have continued to row there every summer. Since then, I have continued to learn and grow as a rower. I have rowed for Guilford High School since my freshman year and rowed varsity as a sophomore and again as a junior. At the end of this season I was honored to be named MVP for my team and captain for this school years spring season. I participate in a winter rowing clinic at Yale and am honored to have the privilege of working with some premier rowing coaches.
Currently, I am looking at small liberal arts colleges and larger universities that will offer me a solid academic experience as well as the opportunity to row competatively. I realize the commitment level that rowing in college presents and feel that I am extremely coachable, a team player, and motivator for others. I recognize the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship and hope that I will have the opportunity and the honor of competing at the collegiate level.
