My name is Alexis Delmore and I have been rowing for 7 years. I joined Kent School's Boat Club (KSBC) in the spring of 2019. In the same year I went to the Henley Women's Regatta in a double. The next fall in 2019 I rowed in the Head in the Charles in the Women's Youth Double. During the spring season, I row in 8's and/or 4's. I am grateful and humbled to be a part of a team such as Kent School, with over 100 years of rowing history at the school, the legacy of crew runs long and deep. Prior to rowing at Kent School, I rowed for Rumsey Hall School (6th thru 9th grade [my first freshman year, as I repeated freshman year at Kent]).
I have racing experience in doubles, fours, and eights. I also have racing experience rowing both port and starboard. In spring 2019, I was stroke in the 3rd boat at KSBC, winning Silver at New England's. In the double at Henley, I was Bow seat, and in the Head of the Charles I was Stroke seat. With only a couple weeks into the spring season, I currently sit at the Stroke seat of the Varsity 2nd boat.
Due to covid-19 I was unable to have a spring 2020 season. I participated in team Zoom workouts in spring 2020, and upon return to school in the fall of 2020, worked out with the team by erging outside on the football fields.
I was excited to get back on the water this spring and make up for lost time. In Spring 2021 our competitive season was shortened and without any major races, but I was grateful for any chance to be competitive while on the water. At the end of Spring 2021 I was honored to be elected as Captain of the team for 2021-2022.
My crew team is my family. I love walking into the boathouse and experiencing the overwhelming feeling of love and support. The team (and boats) go through so much together that support and love is so valuable. Going into the next step of my educational journey, I can only hope that my future team will feel like family, as well.
I push myself in the boat, on the erg, in the weight room, and in the classroom. I aspire to meet my individual goals every season. I also want to inspire and support my teammates around me. The only easy day, was yesterday.
