My name is Hannah Cochener and I am currently rowing as a member of the Kent School Boat Club. I began rowing last year as a sophomore, which was my first real high school season. My first 2k as a freshman I pulled 8:29 on the erg as a complete novice, but was unable to improve due to Covid taking away our season. Sophomore year I pulled a 7:48 during our only 2k test of the season, and was glad to have dropped time but unsatisfied knowing I can push harder. Over the summer, I rowed for an additional 2 weeks at Kent with previous KSBC coach Tessie Salatas, and later rowed with Hotchkiss head coach Victoria McGee towards the end of the summer. I am port dominant, but can sweep both sides, and recently learned how to scull proficiently. During my time at Kent, I have participated on teams such as Varsity field hockey, Varsity basketball, Varsity swimming and diving, and am hoping to join the Varsity soccer team and make one of the first two boats this coming season. Academically, I thoroughly enjoy History and English courses and am hoping to focus on either subject further in college. I really appreciate a competitive team environment and value hard work both in and out of sports!
