Rowing is much more than just a sport to me - it's literally changed my life.
When a friend invited me to join her at Maritime Rowing Club, I gave it a shot and quickly learned that rowing is the ultimate team sport and so much more! The physical and mental toughness was like something I had never experienced before. But I fought through the initial challenge and am so thankful for all the things rowing has brought to my life. Rowing has helped me with my confidence, discipline, and ability to push myself farther than I ever thought possible.
I've been rowing at MRC for almost five years and have been racing for three. I qualified for Youth Nationals all three years and have had consistent success there. In 2022, my boat won gold in the U15 4x+ Class A final. In 2023, we won bronze in the U16 4x+. In 2024, my boat was third in the Class B U17 4x finals - less than 2 seconds behind first place. In addition to Nationals, I'm also a 2X Northeast Regionals champion and took silver in 2024.
I'm proud of not only my consistent success at top competitions but also my well-rounded athletic versatility. I've won medals in quads, fours, singles, doubles, and eights across multiple seats. MRC is preparing me to fill many needs for a college program as a well-rounded athlete, strong person, and good teammate.
My current 2K is 7:48 and I am working hard to lower my time to the low 7:40s/7:30s by the end of my junior year. This summer I trained at a high-performance erg camp as well as participating in MRC's summer program. I'm also changing my diet to add weight and muscle to get stronger. My work ethic and action-oriented nature are what sets me apart. I'm always trying to get better and know I need to put in the work to achieve my goals.
I put in that same effort with my academics. Currently, I have a 4.0 GPA and completed many honors and AP classes. I'm a true student-athlete looking not only for a top rowing program but a top academic institution as well.
My goal is to find a college program that can continue to push me to be not only the best rower I can be but also uncover every bit of my potential as a person to carry me into the rest of my life. I hope to connect with coaches and teammates to form lifelong relationships and bring out the best in each other as a family. That's what rowing has given me so far and I cannot wait to see what my future holds!
