If you would have told me five years ago that I would take pleasure in waking up before dawn to work out in the freezing cold weather and race my heart out, as if my life depended on it, I would have said you were insane. Why would I ever do that? My mom signed me up for rowing when I was in 7th grade. At first, I was reluctant, but eventually gave in and decided to try it out. Fast forward four years and I am completely in love with the sport, I can’t get enough. I am always trying to find ways to get stronger, push past every hurdle, and continue to learn and grow. Throughout my years of rowing, I have grown incredibly as a person, athlete, and teammate. I joined rowing as a very shy 12-year-old, who didn’t have a voice and was afraid to be vocal. Now I am a lot more outgoing, very dedicated to the sport, and try to make everyone feel welcomed, included, and motivated, during every race, workout, piece, practice, whatever it may be. Due to my many years as a rower, I have a lot of experience in a variety of different boats 1x, 2x, 4x, (coxed) 4+, 8x, and 8+, and have experience rowing both port and starboard, making me an asset to any team.
When I envision the future, I aspire to attend a college that will challenge me, and push me further on, and off the water. I want to be part of a team that is very cohesive, close-knit, uplifting, dedicated, able to laugh, have fun, and be able to push and be pushed by my teammates to do my personal best.
